It's time to get started. Here's why.
I want to start this off by saying that this is not a religious post.
Rather, the title is a reference to one of Benjamin Franklin's sayings: "God helps them that helps themselves."
Here's the thing: most people think that good things come to people who wait.
That is simply not true.
Sit around and nothing good will ever happen to you.
Why? Because the universe doesn't revolve around you.
How to Achieve Greatness
The universe doesn't reward those who don't deserve rewards.
And you aren't going to deserve anything if you don't do anything.
Once you start working, building, and learning, things will begin drifting to you.
Opportunities
People
Success
But it's not an instant thing.
Here's the thing: the people who work are the people who achieve greatness.
Life demands a sacrifices for every reward.
That sacrifice is the work you put in. The more work you put in, the more you will be rewarded.
People don't understand this, and the result? They sit around waiting for life to happen.
And the kicker is that it never does.
Endless waiting.
Why People Sit Around
Why did this happen in the first place?
Who got the bright idea that doing nothing is how people achieve everything?
I can't tell you who came up with the idea, but I can tell you that humans tend towards laziness.
Order takes effort, and if you know anything about human nature you know that people don't like putting in effort.
That's why so many people are stuck renting their whole life.
That's why so many adults play video games for hours a day.
We don't like doing things.
It's pretty simple: take hundreds of people who don't want to work for anything, a government that gives handouts to people who could provide for themselves, and social media.
Those three make the perfect mix to create a generation who can't get themselves to stand up off the couch without having a mental breakdown.
Unfortunately, this is prevalent now more than ever. It started with Generation Z, got worse with Generation Alpha, and is bound to get even worse with the new Generation Beta.
Action: the difference between the 1% and everyone else
Achieving anything is really simple, actually.
You clarify a goal, break it down into steps, and then take small steps every day to get closer and closer to the finish.
I've used this exact model to learn full stack development at 11, get a job at 12, learn drawing at 13, learn oil painting at 14, and learn design at 15, along with many other achievements.
Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying this to brag about what I've done. I'm saying that this is a system that works.
When you get in the habit of achieving things quickly and efficiently, you attract opportunities like a magnet.
Put in the work, and you will receive what you want.
The only slip-up people get wrong here is that honesty is key. You must be giving your all. You'll know. Giving your all comes with a deep sense of satisfaction. IF you don't have that, you didn't do all you could.
I don't know if this is some phycological hack or if there is someone pulling the strings when you give your all. It's not my place to tell you that.
What I can tell you is that everyone who tried their hardest for an extended amount of time succeeded in the end.
It may not be in the way you think. It may seem like you're just failing. In the end though, it all makes sense. You will be able to see that you needed those failures to succeed.
So in the end, good things come, not to those who wait, but to those who actively pursue those good things.
Or as Benjamin Franklin said, "God helps you once you help yourself."
See you in the next one.
